Alternatively, relax in one of the city’s fine restaurants or cozy cafés and enjoy the flavors of Peruvian cuisine.
Day 2 - Cusco City Tour
You may choose to embark on a half-day tour of Cusco either in the morning or in the afternoon. Known as the “Archaeological Capital of the Americas”, Cusco was the heart of the Inca Empire during the 14th and 15th centuries. Today, the city blends ancient pre-Inca and Inca architecture with Spanish colonial styles, showcasing its rich history and culture.
The tour begins at the Cusco Cathedral (Catedral del Cuzco), located on the Plaza de Armas. Here, you will admire its outstanding architecture and view several masterpieces by artists of the renowned Cusco School (Escuela Cusqueña). Next, we will visit the Temple of the Sun (Qoricancha), the most sacred Inca site dedicated to the Sun God (Inti). After the Spanish conquest, the Convent of Santo Domingo was built over it, yet many finely crafted Inca stone walls remain intact to this day.
We then continue to Sacsayhuaman, a ceremonial fortress built with massive stone blocks, offering breathtaking views of Cusco. Afterwards, we will visit Q’enqo, an archaeological site with mysterious underground passages; Puca Pucara, a fortress showcasing Inca military architecture; and finally Tambomachay, renowned for its elegant aqueducts, water channels, and waterfalls that demonstrate the Incas’ advanced hydraulic engineering skills.
After this enriching cultural and archaeological journey, you will return to your hotel. The rest of the day is free for you to relax or further explore this enchanting city.
Day 3 - Sacred Valley Tour
Today’s journey takes you from Pisac to Ollantaytambo, and finally to Chinchero. We will guide you through the Sacred Valley—once the heart of the Inca Empire and an important agricultural center.
The first stop is the significant Inca archaeological site of Pisac, renowned for its expansive agricultural terraces and its strategic position as the southern gateway to the Sacred Valley. After visiting the ruins, we will head to the town’s handicraft market.
Next, we continue to Ollantaytambo, an Inca fortress guarding the northern entrance of the Sacred Valley. Climb its series of terraces, stroll along its narrow ancient paths, and gain insight into its military, defensive, religious, and agricultural importance.
The final stop is Chinchero, a traditional Andean town that was once the royal estate of Tupac Inca Yupanqui. In the town’s main square, you will see well-preserved Inca stone walls and visit a colonial church built on Inca foundations. After enjoying Chinchero’s rich history and scenic views, we will return to Cusco.
Day 4 - Start of Inca Trail
Day 5 - Huayllabamba - Warmiwañusca - Pacaymayo
Day 6 - Pacaymayo - Runkuracay - Sayacmarca - Wiñay Wayna
Day 7 - Machu Picchu & Return to Cusco
Depart early in the morning and walk along a gentle mountain trail for about 1.5 hours before ascending a narrow stone path leading to the Sun Gate (Inti Punku) — where the mist slowly reveals the breathtaking panoramic view of Machu Picchu. Then descend to the archaeological site to explore its temples, plazas, and terraces, and experience the awe of one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. After the visit, take the bus down to Aguas Calientes, enjoy lunch and some rest, before boarding the train back to Cusco.
Day 8 - Rainbow Mountain Day Tour
Depart early from Cusco toward the Rainbow Mountain (Vinicunca), located at 5,200 meters above sea level. Along the way, pass through traditional Andean villages, alpaca herds, and snow-capped peaks. Upon arrival at Chillihuani, enjoy breakfast before starting the 1.5-hour uphill trek.
The mountain’s striking colors come from natural mineral deposits, creating a breathtaking striped landscape. After taking in the panoramic views and photos at the summit, descend to the base, enjoy a buffet lunch at a local restaurant, and return to Cusco in the afternoon.
